Present Perfect Continuous Tense is used in the following situations:

1. When we are talking about situations which started in the past and they are going on now.

They have been working hard since morning.
I've been waiting for Vicky since two o'clock.

2. When we are talking about activities which started in the past and which have just finished.

I'm so sorry I'm late. Have you been waiting long?

3. When we are talking about activities whose effects are visible now.

Look! It's been raining again.
Who has been using my shampoo?

4. In some situations one can use Present Perfect Progressive instead of Present Perfect.

I have been teaching English for 15 years.
I have taught English for 15 years.

5. When we are talking about situations which theoretically have no ending.

He's been doing all sorts of silly things for years.
